Today we’re sharing the recipe for a super easy, total tasty, comfort food meal! Skillet Meatloaf with French Onion Gravy!

This entire dish was created using an electric skillet, a handy tool many of us have in our kitchen but may not know what to do with! Skillet Meatloaf is a great place to start but we also love an electric skillet for roasts & frying chicken.

This is a quick and easy weeknight meal. It can be ready in just about 30 minutes and makes about 8 patties.

Skillet Meatloaf

Ingredients:

1 pound ground sirloin
1 1/2 pounds ground pork
1 1/2 cups plain bread crumbs
1 cup diced green peppers
1 2 ounce package dry onion soup mix
2 eggs
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon parsley

Instructions:

  1. Preheat electric skillet to 275°.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix with hands until just combined. Create 1/2 pound loaf patties with your hands.

  3. Once skillet is hot, place individual patties in the skillet. Cover. Sear one side of the patty for approximately 8-10 minutes. Flip and continue cooking with cover on until patty reaches an internal temperature of 160°.

  4. Remove from skillet and cover to keep hot.

French Onion Gravy

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups flour
1 8 ounce can of mushrooms
1/2 cup diced green peppers
3 cups beef broth

Instructions:

  1. After removing meatloaf patties, with electric skillet still set at 275°, add flour, mushrooms and diced green peppers to the skillet. Brown for 4-5 minutes.

  2. Add beef broth to skillet. Whisk well to avoid lumps.

  3. Return meatloaf patties to skillet. Reduce heat to 225° and cover. Continue to cook until gravy thickens.

Please note, if you don’t have an electric skillet, this recipe can be made in a large skillet on the stove using medium high heat and lowering to medium low heat to thicken gravy.
